Responsibilities include:
  • Plan, develop, organize, write and edit operational procedures and manuals
  • Research, develop and document technical design specifications and test scripts
  • Produce electronic documentation
  • Analyze documents to maintain continuity of style of content
  • Manage updates and revisions to technical literature
  • Develops a thorough understanding of the audience and the documentation required by meeting with colleagues, and working with managers
  • Researches and builds knowledge about technology or concepts to be documented
  • Determines the clearest and most logical way to present information and instructions for greatest reader comprehension and writes and edits technical information accordingly
  • Prepares or commissions graphics and illustrations to elaborate on or complement technical writing
  • Meets with subject matter experts in order to ensure that specialized topics are appropriately addressed and discussed
  • Revises, edits, or updates instructions, technical information, and frequently asked questions as necessary
  • Creates, adapts, and follows project schedules and deadlines

  • Basic Qualifications
  • 1-3 years of experience with government technical writing
  • 1-3 years of experience with training material verification and editing
  • Knowledge of Navy training and technical writing standards desired
  • Secret clearance
  • BA or BS degree and 3 years of experience with technical writing for the DoD
  • Additional Qualifications
  • Knowledge of MIL-STD-40051, MIL-HDBK-1222, and eXtensible Markup Language
  • Ability to maintain accurate technical publications
  • Ability to develop multiple technical publication.
  • Ability to show expertise in Adobe Acrobat, Frame Maker, and Microsoft Office
  • Possession of excellent oral and written communication skills
  • Proven experience working in a technical writing position
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Proficiency in MS Office
  • Strong attention to detail
  • Skilled at prioritization and multi-tasking
