At Fors Marsh Group (FMG), we combine the power of science and strategy to improve people’s lives. Each day, we work with institutions and organizations that seek to disrupt markets, understand and influence behavior, drive action on a national scale, and create positive impact. Our approach extends far beyond our client portfolio—as a certified B Corporation and a 2020 Greenbook Top 50 Market Research Company, we make a difference in our community through corporate-sponsored employee volunteer programs and pro bono partnerships with values-aligned nonprofits. Most importantly, as a 2019 Washington Post Top Workplace, we are committed to putting people first and foster a culture that reflects that commitment. We are proud to be an equal opportunity employer, and we celebrate diversity and inclusivity as the foundation of a healthy, successful, and innovative work environment. Join us, and together we can work to ensure a better tomorrow.

FMG is seeking an intelligent and motivated researcher to work as a part of a research team on large-scale survey efforts. As a part of our Military Recruiting Research division, this individual will have the opportunity to work on some of our nation’s most important issues, including the sustainment of our all-volunteer force. The researcher’s primary responsibilities will include conducting and reporting upon analyses of survey data, supporting questionnaire development and background research, and communicating findings in an impactful way to non-technical audiences. This job is best suited for someone that enjoys market research, working collaboratively with team members and clients, that consistently strives to improve, and that wants to use research to make an impact. Responsibilities include:

  • Analyzing market research data, including data from large-scale tracking surveys from a variety of audiences. Research topics will include marketing, outreach, and career decision-making.
  • Supporting all aspects of the research process, including survey creation, data cleaning, data analysis, and reporting.
  • Conducting univariate and multivariate analyses to evaluate reactions to military advertisements and provide recommendations for marketing and advertising.
  • Writing and reviewing written reports and professional briefings that summarize research findings for non-technical audiences.
  • Upholding the highest standards of quality control for yourself and others.
  • Balancing roles and responsibilities across multiple concurrent studies. Working under tight deadlines to fulfill client requests.
  • Anticipating potential barriers to project completion, proposing solutions to team leadership.
  • Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in psychology, marketing, economics, social science, statistics or related field required.
  • Two years of academic or professional research experience, preferably in the area of market or communication research, decision-making, or social psychology.
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to work independently without close supervision and as a team member.
  • Excellent analytic and dataset manipulation skills (e.g., merging, recoding, cleaning) in at least one statistical software package (e.g., Stata, SPSS, SAS, R). Experience in text analytics, data mining, or multivariate statistics a plus.
  • Experience creating visual and written summaries of research results (e.g., in PowerPoint and Word) that can be understood by nontechnical audiences.
  • Strong quantitative ability and a keen eye for detail and accuracy.
  • Applicants may be subject to a low-level government security investigation and must meet eligibility criteria for access to sensitive information.
  • U.S. Citizen.
  • We Offer:

  • Significant growth opportunities.
  • A highly collegial and intellectually stimulating work environment.
  • A company culture promoting work/life balance.
  • Highly competitive benefit/compensation package.
