Basic Qualifications

Associate’s degree or equivalent is required plus a minimum of 3 years of relevant experience.

[Department of Defense Secret security clearance is Preferred at time of hire. Applicants selected will be subject to a U.S. Government security investigation and must meet eligibility requirements for access to classified information. Due to the nature of work performed within our facilities, U.S. citizenship is required.

As the Advanced Technical Writing Associate, you’ll be responsible for creating, planning, writing and editing complex operational, instructional, interactive electronic technical manuals (IETMs), maintenance or test procedures. This will entail documenting engineering processes and specifications by editing software developer and engineering staff’s notes and procedures and applying formatting in order to support the writing and publication of hardware and software test procedures. You’ll manage complex tasks from inception to end, proactively communicating the status of projects to technical documentation lead.

What you’ll experience:

  • Researches and translates technical information for non-technical and technical users
  • Interviews technical staff referring to technical specifications and engineering illustrations
  • Documents engineering processes and specifications from engineering staff notes; editing into hardware and software test procedures, white papers, readme files, etc.
  • Develop system operational and security documentation on both new and fielded systems
  • Recommends formats responsive to technical and customer requirements
  • Produces products that conform to company documentation and quality assurance standards
  • Ensures the accurate preparation of documents for interim and final delivery to customer by participating in peer review of documentation; work is reviewed by senior staff at frequent interval
  • What you’ll Bring:

  • An Associate’s degree or equivalent plus a minimum of 3 years of relevant experience
  • Distinct knowledge of the structure and content of the English language including the meaning and spelling of words, rules of composition, and grammar
  • Strong written communication skills and the ability to tailor communication to target audience through effective listening and interviewing skills
  • Distinct ability to research highly technical information and interpret data
  • Distinct understanding of DoD MIL standards and style guides and the ability to adhere to and implement such standards to technical documentation
  • What sets you apart:

  • Working knowledge or experience with structured technical documentation tools (MS Word, Adobe FrameMaker, Arbortext XML, Oxygen XML Editor, RoboHelp, HTML Editors, etc.)
  • Working knowledge or experience with Common Source Data Base (CSDB) (Windchill, Contenta, SiberSafe, etc.)
  • Working knowledge of systems engineering concepts, principles, and theories
  • Working knowledge of Risk Management Framework (RMF) processes
