About the Role:
Join a dynamic team of passionate product management experts serving the education market. Our Agile team consists of UX, Product and Business Analysis specialists that are fanatic about driving education outcomes. The Manager, Product Management is responsible for supporting the vision, leadership and product market strategies of the Product Management department in partnership with the Project Management Office (PMO), Education Solutions internal stakeholders, and IT teams. A primary goal of the position is to oversee the product line success managing the Product Managers, working in partnership with the Business Analysis team, who successfully oversee, formulate and execute the Education Services product roadmap and market strategies for the applicable product.
The Manager works in conjunction with the Education Solutions leadership and staff to ensure diversification and ongoing enhancement to existing product and service lines and develop new market driven products and services. The incumbent works closely with headquarters and field staff, particularly the business and IT units, to articulate, plan and execute a client centered product strategy, understand the diversity of product clientele channels, constantly capture the competitive landscape, cultivate innovation ideation and product prioritization aligned with the organization and market demands. The position reports to the Director, Product Management in the Education Solutions Division.
How You Contribute: Team leadership and develop a product management approach for the learner market solutions. Support & fine-tune a product management methodology and evangelize that within the organization. Own the roadmap across the Education Solutions portfolio. Leading the execution of market research and customer feedback. Coordinating customer focus and advisory groups. Identifying potential opportunities and prioritizing product and release backlog based on customer needs and value propositions. Providing assessments and advice on RFP strategies. Outlining product communication strategy in cooperation with Business Development and Marketing departments. Along with direct reports play a leadership role in all elements of the client implementation process, in partnership with the Customer Care Department and also the overall product/service Go To Market strategies. Manage the delivery of innovative client education programs, trainings, and service line advisory groups on existing and new products and services with one Clearinghouse voice but customized for each of our respective student and institutional channels spanning Secondary Education, Post-Secondary, Organizations, Industry and Workforce and others. Develops and fosters strategic relationships with key education institution clients and acts as a subject matter expert to the rest of the company on the Education Services products and service lines. Workforce Management Interview, hire, motivate, and manage staff to maximize productivity and efficiency. Ensure staff is adequately trained and provide guidance as needed. Monitor employee performance and conduct appraisals. Reward employees using formal and informal methods.

What You Bring to the Table: Bachelor’s degree, in IT, Management, Education or a related field and 10+ years’ experience in the field. A combination of education and experience, including through military service, will also be considered. 8 years’ experience building and managing product development, program management, technical and go to market strategies with a strong business acumen. Experience within the Education field is highly preferred. 5+ years’ supervisory/managerial experience. Proven ability to effectively, and often simultaneously, communicate at operational, technical, and strategic levels to internal and external customers. Ability to implement a comprehensive product management discipline. Familiarity with electronic data exchange, analytics and reporting services. Solid understanding of the SDLC and methodologies such as Agile. Comfortable in customer engagement, especially in exploring product ideas. Excellent analytical skills and detail oriented. Excellent interpersonal, written, and oral communication, time management, and presentation skills. Proven track record of facilitating cross-departmental issue identification, problem solving, and resolution. Demonstrated ability to work on a fast-paced environment with a team and achieve results in a team environment. Highly customer centric, service oriented with the ability to understand, execute, and meet customer's expectations. Proficient in Microsoft Office. Live within a commutable distance of Herndon, VA.
Additional Desired Requirements: Master’s degree. Trained in one or more product management methodologies such as Lean or Pragmatic. Knowledge of the features/benefits of Clearinghouse services.
Physical Demands: Use of a computer for 8 or more hours a day. Use of a copy machine and telephone. Frequently required to sit for 7 or more hours per day in close proximity to others in an open office environment. Occasionally required to use hands and fingers to operate, handle, and reach. Vision abilities include close vision and the ability to adjust focus. Travel via car, train, and airplane when needed (25%).
