Responsibilities

NCI: Technical Writer III writes, edits, and rewrites manuscript copy for reference manuals, operations manuals, user manuals, and programming manuals for software and computer operations. Coordinates with programmers and software engineering to verify knowledge of subject in preparation for writing assignment. Oversees preparation of illustrative material, selecting drawings, sketches, diagrams, and charts. May assist in preparation and layout of work for publication.

Other Qualifications:

  • Experience writing end-user software documentation, especially in a Government/DoD environment.
    Exceptional written and visual communication skills; knowledge of English grammar and usage; the ability to 'make the complex simple.
  • Experience participating in cross-functional Agile development teams.
    Knowledge of HTML and CSS.
  • Familiarity with UX principles; user advocacy.
  • Ability to apply standard accessibility practices to documentation.
  • Proven understanding of Agile practices including sprint planning, backlog refinement, prioritization, scrum, and retrospectives.
  • Excellent interpersonal communication skills; experience collaborating with partners across many areas and departments, including product management, UX, sales/marketing, and customer support.
