Job Description

Saxman One is seeking a highly talented and self-motivated writer/editor comfortable with gathering information from stakeholders and then developing accurate documents. This work is in support of a special Commission. This assignment will begin in February and conclude by end of December 2020. Extensive travel throughout the U.S. will be required.

 The candidate shall provide professional support to assist in the development and execution of the field visits, hearings, and meetings, and production of materials and reports, consistent with tasks approved for each individual task order. 

The Writer/Editor works on a dynamic team focused on expanding the reach and impact of our clients. Writer/Editor will provide input to overall communication strategies, develop branding and messaging and execute tactics to promote the organization across various traditional and online media outlets via articles, news releases, social network posts, videos and presentations; will also measure and analyze media metrics. The Writer/Editor has experience in PhD level technical and governmental writing—promotional a plus. Report Writer will report directly to the Project Manager and work closely with the Program Manager to achieve the program's targeted strategic communication goals. This position is not a supervisory position; other duties may be required.

- Easily navigates between strategic and tactical work levels; able to develop/implement comprehensive strategic communication plans and execute tactical written and visual communication products.

- This position will have lead responsibility for weekly and monthly deliverable products such as a weekly reporting, summaries, news releases and ongoing product development.

- Will be responsible for media impact measurement and analysis.

- The Writer/Editor is outgoing, self-driven and able to work with limited supervision. Tasks will be assigned, but additional projects that focus on meeting client objectives should be initiated.

- The Writer/Editor will effectively collaborate in peer-driven works groups.

JOB REQUIREMENTS

A Bachelor's Degree in Communication, Marketing, English, Journalism or related field is necessary with eight (8) or more years of experience actively writing, engaging with the senior organization leaders and staff, industry media and community leaders. Experience in social media outreach planning and execution is required. Five (5) years of experience in technical / governmental writing/editing/note-taking is desired; work experience in the defense or government environments is required. Experience in creating and coordinating inter-agency communications and products is required. Retired or former military member/civil servant with Department of Defense public affairs experience is preferred.

- Familiarity in law enforcement community preferred

- Government policy and reporting experience

- Strategic communication planning experience.

- Active Secret clearance or Public Trust preferred.
